Continuing with our brief exploration of all the features available through the Dramatica Desktop, in this lesson we'll take a look at Dramatica's Help System.
Don't be fooled by the name. There is a lot more in the Help System than just troubleshooting or a description of the software features!

The Dramatica Tutorial (User Manual)
There are two primary sections to the Help System, and the first of these is the User Manual. This feature somewhat parallels the information you are learning in the first part of this course. In the User Manual you'll learn about every key feature of Dramatica and what it is used for. There are also suggestions for putting Dramatica to work creatively.
In the User Manual you'll find screen shots and descriptions that cover every detail of what Dramatica has to offer.
The second part of the Help System is a special ebook version of Dramatica: A New Theory of Story. This 450 page book explains the nuts and bolts of the mechanics of story structure. It outlines the most precise and in-depth model of what stories really are and how they really work.
As you've already discovered from the earlier lesson on the Dramatica Theory, there is a great deal of valuable information to be explored. But a word of caution... Don't get lured by the siren song of understanding to the point you dash your Muse upon the rocks of distraction! It is easy to become so enraptured by the wealth of information that you lose track of why you bought Dramatica in the first place - to tell a story. Still and all, as a sideline, studying the theory book can enhance your abilities and improve your writing.
As an added bonus, this ebook version of the Dramatica Theory allows you to search by topic or keyword as well as reading it in the order originally intended. In this manner, you can zero in on exactly the piece of information you need to solve a specific story problem or to open a new creative avenue.
